Professor Eleni Mangina

I have secured in excess of circa EUR5 million in research funding as Principal Investigator from exchequer (Science Foundation Ireland, Irish Research Council, Enterprise Ireland) and non-exchequer (Horizon 2020, Erasmus+) sources within the application areas of VR/AR. My latest success is the first for UCD coordination in ICT call for one of the most competitive Horizon 2020 call for proposals, (ICT-25-2018-2020 (Interactive Technologies) 9.88% acceptance rate (ERC 12.7% for the same year)), with the highest attainable score of ESR 15/15 from the evaluators. The ARETE H2020 project aims to support the pan-European interactive technologies effort both in industry and academia, through the multi-user interactions within Augmented Reality technologies evaluated in educational settings in both professional and private contexts. The authoring tool used within ARETE is based on the Mirage.XR Community Edition, Open Source for authoring and re-enactment of AR learning content to scale down mobile platforms. Within the three pilots of the ARETE project, highly usable, useful and desirable AR technologies and contents will be delivered, leading to a wider uptake and further stimulate their creative usage.
