Project description
ViRAL is an Erasmus+ project based on the values of heritage safeguard and educational skills. The main goal of ViRAL is to use content generated from the industrial heritage (material and immaterial) of each of the cities involved in this program to create digital tools that will then be used in adult non-formal education sessions (seniors, factory employees, vocational and technical education, cultural and heritage professionals). With a starting point in the archives and cultural heritage across Europe’s post-industrial communities, specifically using five archives/museums from Dornbirn (AT), Wuppertal (DE), Osijek (HR), Torres Novas (PT) and Coventry (UK), the project VIRAL aims to develop new skills and key competences in adults with scarce job opportunities through new virtual reality (VR), augmented reality (AR) and 360-degree movies (360) technology tools and documentary Methods. A ViRAL Handbook, a manual containing case studies and best-case practices in the fields of post-industrial landscapes, archives, and their combination with digital tools, namely augmented and virtual reality (AR and VR) and 360º videos is available via our homepage. Furthermore, we are preparing a platform with quests, essays and videos to be used in non-formal adult education activities. The tasks target both the trainer/facilitator/teacher and the person learning, so that there is the possibility for adults to develop the work in an autonomous manner. The contents are related to post-industrial sites, archives, and the use of the digital tools named before.
